If you are a fan of beer and want to diversify your experience with an unexpected and absolutely amazing refreshing fruit aftertaste, we certainly recommend you Belgian cherry beer Kriek.
Kriek cherry beer is a variation of the Belgian beer Lambic, famous for its ancient brewing tradition. The name "Lambic" was inherited from the old Belgian city of Lembeek. And the word "Kriek" comes from the name of a variety of dark red cherries.
The recipe for cherry beer dates back to the time of the Crusades. Legend has it that a crusader returning from a crusade wanted to brew beer that resembled the blood of Christ. To make it, he added a bitter cherry to the beer. Since then, this cherry-flavored drink with a subtle almond flavor became extremely popular in Belgium and then all over Europe.
According to ancient recipes, Belgian brewers still use dried cherries today and add them to the beer before the fermentation. The ratio of cherry juice in beer is about 30%. The beverage acquires a deep rich color. Already brewed beer is aged for 2-3 months before being served.
More recently, another fruity variety of lambic has been released in Belgium: a sunny colored drink with a peach flavor and delicate aroma - "Lambic Peche". By the way, if you use raspberries instead of cherries, the result is a beautiful Belgian beer "Frambozen".
When you visit our Belgian brasserie Lambic, be sure to order a Belgian cherry beer "Kriek".

Chef Semyon Solomein presents a new special Lambic menu! Here you will find 5 duck dishes in different cooking techniques and styles. We start our acquaintance with duck riet, which we serve with pickled daikon, cherry marmalade and ciabatta. Next, we take an olivier with smoked duck, made with roasted vegetables with homemade dressing. Taco in crispy tortilla with Peking duck and hoisin sauce will be an excellent appetizer, which is convenient to «share» for the whole company. We will warm up with fragrant sesame ramen with duck breast, pickled egg and spicy chili oil. And for hot dish we’ll choose stewed duck leg confit with polenta and spinach. For dessert, try the coconut mochi with mango-mandarin sauce, a classic Japanese dessert made from rice dough and topped with creamy ice cream. For a perfect match to the dishes, we recommend specially invented drinks from bar manager Diana Dvoretskaya: — Mr. Scrooge (peated whiskey/campari/red vermouth) — Beijing Vacation (bourbon / cherry / herbal liqueur) — Apricot Flight (vodka / apricot / almond / lemon) — Lingonberry Splash (gin / lingonberry / lemon / bitters) — Hunter’s Instinct (rum / herbal tea / lingonberry / cinnamon / bitter)
